I was in a foul mood this morning. I went to bed SO SURE that the horrible weather would prevent me from going to work today, and woke up to find that it was above freezing and raining. All the snow was going away. I really had no real reason not to go in, except that I didn't WANT to. Stupid work ethic. I slogged my way in through the slush, missed the train by one minute because I couldn't run to get to it across the platform.
Screw this, I'm having breakfast. I went downstairs to the cafe for my morning Rockstar, and had a bagel to go with it. The cashier, Linda, is one of those old-fashioned ladies who calls everyone Hon. I like her quite a bit, and she always makes my day a bit brighter.
Today as I approached the register, she grins and shakes her head. "Hi sweetie! You know, you are SO CUTE," she tells me. "There's just something about you. I think it's because you're so eccentric, I'm always drawn to those people. But of everyone who comes here, I think of you. I love having people like you around."
Dammit. She just totally killed my bad mood.
